It was in Greece, at the southern tip of the Peloponnese where Mani plunges into the sea, that I felt for the first time a
vertigo that regularly came back to me in a dream afterwards. Wanting to understand why the small fishing port where
we spent the night had caused me such anguish and such excitement, I found on a map the nearby presence of an abyss in
the sea.
I often imagined swimming above this gap, enjoying the contrast between the familiarity of the aquatic element and the
fearful curiosity aroused by the depths of the unknown.
Whileworking on this piece, the emotion tied to this experience gradually emerged from the oblivion where I had confined
it and it became the engine of my inspiration, implemented in other configurations or adapted with other elements.
Sur l’abîme seems imbued with memories of a previous life ; or perhaps it is a dream that I see through the kaleidoscope of
time.
