Stabilité

sur un texte de Claire Vazart

Stabilité is one of the pieces commissioned by Ensemble 20/21, directed by Cyrille Colombier, for the Strates performance celebrating the choir’s 20th anniversary. The ensemble has consistently strived to offer audiences a fresh perspective on contemporary music from diverse angles. This creation explores the dialogue between song and dance. The text poetically evokes the enduring nature of vital breath, an idea formally echoed in the music. It alternates between long, homophonic phrases (breaths) and contrapuntal work where the voices respond to or intertwine with each other in a colorful sonic texture that supports the dance movement. The piece, for four female and two male voices, can also be performed without movement.
