To follow the multiples unknown towards underground world is of second nature when your name is Alice… This piece for cello is for the adventurers more than for the sonata lovers.
Indication for players
s (scratch): when indicated, use the bow to scratch as aesthetically as possible to give an hedge to the texture.
The performance starts and ends with an unsynchronized recorded tape that we’ll name “sonic plinth”. Once the sonic plinth activated, the sound engineer (after a minimum of five minutes) will fade it out. At the end of the synchronized recorded tape, a fade in will bring the sonic plinth back.
Synchronized Recorded Tape
In this composition, the synchronized recorded tape is an obvious rhythmical cue. You must make sure, as an interpreter, to keep playing accordingly so you don’t get de-synchronized with the tape. The tempo is indicated in beats per minute (BPM). Since the recorded tape is synchronized, it will end along the cello performance.
Performance Advice
The audience must be placed facing the horizon (a view). You can choose to seat in front of the audience whenever during the sonic plinth. When it comes time to play, you must be facing the audience.
May the performance thrilling yo!
