This score in two parts – Prologue and Epilogue –, with a specific libretto and requiring a staging, was commissioned by the Mozarteum University in Salzburg to provide a framework for the production of Henry Purcell’s opera Dido and Æneas.
Combining the diversity of musical writings with that of the literary interpretations of the two librettos, dramaturgical visions of two different natures that question each other are thus confronted.
Dido, abandoned by divine decision, opposes Elissa sovereign in the fulfilment of her destiny.
