Alessandro Scarlatti (1660-1725)

Born in Palermo (Sicily) in 1660, alessandro Scarlatti composed numerous operas and cantatas (over 800…). Since the age of 18, he had been Kapellmeister of the royal chapel in Naples to which he belonged for a long time. He also stayed for a while in Rome where he obtained a position at the academia dell’arcadia in 1706. although he had a rich career he died in solitude in 1725.
