Alongside his works devoted to the piano (his “water-divining rod”) Henri Sauguet wrote numerous pages for a solo instrument, wether they are concert works for renowned instrumentalists (as his Sonate pour violoncelle dedicated to Dimitri Markévitch), competition works (Valses for double- bass) or other occasional pieces and homages (80 notes clavecines, for harpsichord, composed on the occasion of Wanda Landowska’s eigthieth birthday).
