The composer, known for his power of seduction, thus put his work at the service of his public image. He needed the press which, in turn, wished to benefit from his assistance, so much so that his popularity touched all strata of society. The two songs in this collection bear witness to the complex relationship between the press and a composer who took care of not neglecting the musical quality of the works he delivered, however brief they were.
